NKASIRI ADVENTURE PARK

We set out to begin our day trip to Nkasiri Adventure Park on the early morning of Sunday 30th July 2021. The weather was cold and chilly just like any other day of July. First things first, you will not get crowds of Nairobians on Sunday early morning. So this is best time to capture amazing shots of the city.

If you have been to the CBD early on a Sunday morning, you understand what I mean. The busiest street in Nairobi on Sunday Morning is the City Hall way. You might be wondering why; this is where tour operators majorly meet with their clients and begin their safari. This is a common street and is familiar to most people.

If you are not keen enough you might get into a vehicle travelling to a destination you had not booked. There is a buzz of activities; agents are up and down, just to ensure all those who paid for the trip have arrived and are settled in the vehicle. Some operators are happy to meet with others and they catch up as they explain the destinations they will be heading to and the group they are taking there.

This early morning calls for something hot to keep ourselves

warm, some ladies rush to the nearest Java shop to purchase

coffee latte as take away because no one wants to be left behind if we begin our journey. For me and some other fellows, we purchase “kahawa moto” from a hawker that costs only Ksh.10/-

Which is basically black coffee in a tiny plastic tumbler. Just one that you expect to be worth the price mentioned.

Well there is the other mbogi which is posing for the shots. The classic work of the photographer, Frank…ooh it just makes you to remain glued in front of the lens. I do not have enough words to describe how perfect the shots are but just check the images used in this work. He is talented and oh Lord, bless the work of his hands. Some ladies might be lured into falling for him…(jokes) because of how he has mastered the art of photography.

It is almost time to depart, everyone has arrived. As you get in the 40 seater bus, well branded, standing out in the masai market area, you

have to sanitize your hands and the frequently touched places like the door. The best way to curb the spread of COVID since we never know who has or doesn’t have it. Stay Safe!

The large spacious tour bus with comfy seat was our ride for the day. Every person was on their own seat and spaced from the next, thumbs up to complying to COVID regulations. The captain was one Mr. Simon. Buses are thought to be slow but not this one. Being high above any other vehicle, this bus makes you feel like you are travelling to those long distance destinations. We left Nairobi at 8.30am for the journey would be around 3hours.

Every trip has those enthusiasts who do not want to miss out and will be picked on our way.  From town via Mombasa Road and we picked 2 guys and 3 ladies to join us. We diverted at Athi River and now this is just the beginning of Kajiado County. All this long the road is well tarmacked.

Since we left Nairobi very early we did not get the time to do shopping, this was the most appropriate place to shop. Just like any other mall in Kenya, the Kitengela Mall has a variety to offer. after the 30 minutes stop, we hit the road to Nkasiri Adventure Park that sits in the wild. This perfect hideout is located 6km from Kitengela Town.

We turned and twilled as we drove throughout the murram road stretch that seemed to have no end. The surrounding are residential homes for families but must be well off. The landscape is bare and nothing can be seen on the farms. For sure, I think of it this way because most residents are pastoralists or they are just retirement homes where no one will be thinking of farming.

Finally, we get to the Nkasiri Adventure Park, where we were welcomed by the staff. You could see from the eyes of all people the glow of happiness. Breakfast was ready and set up.

Nkasiri Adventure Park is an Extreme Adventure, Sports, Camping, Dining and Team Building Centre offering activities such as Zip lining, High ropes challenge, Football, Volleyball, Basketball tennis grounds, Darts, Table tennis and grounds for events.

The pods are unique, eye catching & welcoming than any other camping tent. The wooden walls covered and smoothed with furnished inside. And the white sheets sum the beauty of the what you see. The pods can accommodate 2 people for a night. Who can you go with and spend a night under the stars?

The open field is like a laid down green carpet, clean, neat and maintained grass. This is where we carried out team building facilitation guided by one professional Mr. Solomon. In doing this you actually know if the phrase “can work in a team” that you normally write on your CV or cover letter applies in practicality.

Nkasiri Adventure Park is kid friendly and kids can take part in activities like cycling, swinging, trampoline. We later moved to the high ropes, to test our adrenaline levels. First you need to sign the indemnity form just in case, well just in case the unforeseen happens. The first group goes up and we are left taking pictures of them. It is always good to see others test the waters if you are fainthearted.

It is fun being up the high-ropes and finalizing the thrill with zip lining. Even the ones who were in fear at the beginning were happy to complete and willing to do it again.

We later headed to have the late lunch. At this time the sun is going down and the sharp wind is blowing. The food was sumptuous and everyone ate to the fullest.

After the meal, we had to climax the day with birthday cake cutting for May Babies..as they call it. We had 3 among ourselves who had their birthday this month. We sang the birthday song as they cut the cake. The cake flavors were blue berry and black forest which are a favorite to most ladies. Well, you need to join the next time we have a trip. What part of this blog did you like the most?

We set back to Nairobi at around 6.30pm and arrived in Nairobi CBD at 7.30pm.

It was a day well spent.
